Meng's thoughts
This is my third day in Beijing China, and already I have experienced and learned some of what China has to offer. But what comes to my mind first and the clearest is the driving, foot massages, and all the shopping! I tell you, I dont think that asians were blessed with driving skills. Hardly anyone uses their turn signals, they just zoom into thier desired spot on the road and aren't very likely to stop for any cars, even pedestrians which makes it easy to have a heart attack! But our driver, Mr. Lu has kept us safe.. so far. Moving onto the foot massages, they were very nice and I would recommend anyone to go get one, especially after hiking the great wall in heels. My massager kept saying how hard my toes and feet were but that is most likely because I dance and have very strong feet. He even had to be told to massage harder, on the other hand that is quite the opposite of my mother who was two seats away from me screaming of pain even with the very gentle touch of his hands. I think that the bathrooms there were the worst of any place I had been but I would still encourage others to go get one! Annnnd not to mention, the massagers were all young men which made it just that much better. Shopping.. that was fin. I bought two cute fashionable coats and presents for others. We were shopping for approximately five hours, and they were the best well spent (literally) hours everrrr!! Bargains were amazing, although it did make me feel bad walking away with such nice things for cheap but hey, it works for me!!

Meng, thank you for posting your thoughts. I can't wait to share them with my daughter Alexandra Meiying (11) who traveled to China in 2003 to bring home her little brother. We know your mom pretty well by now (only by phone though) since we adopted from China through Heritage 3 times.
Your travel journal gives me an idea. Vicki, how about the Heritage website hosting a "Kids' Korner" - where children traveling to another country to bring home a sibling or a child going on a heritage tour can post their story, share their thoughts and impression (without identifying information) and also an area where a social worker could post some comments to children preparing to bring a sibling home or go on a heritage tour. Just an idea but as some of our children are getting older, they might enjoy this or find it helpful.
